After suffering with palpitations since I was 12 years old, which have worsened year on year, I finally had surgery to try and fix the problem. In 2013 at 19 weeks pregnant I had my worst episode of palpitations up until that point. My heart rate was more than 240BPM and was not budging. Paramedics attended and took me to hospital, where I was monitored and not much more action was taken. The paramedics had said it was a prolonged episode of supra ventricular tachycardia (SVT). Since 2013 I have had episodes on average once a week, sometimes more often. Finally over Christmas 2018, I managed to catch an episode on a heart trace monitor and was placed on a waiting list for an ablation of SVT. Which is effectively a catheter procedure through the femoral vein, where they burn off the offending tissue. I discovered that I have the most common form of SVT which is an AV node reentry, which means instead of the electrical signals in my heart circulating a regular and full cycle, they are circling in one area causing arrhythmia. I know for sure that I am guilty of allowing myself to get in a cycle of negative thinking, and I really think it's true that once we are in the mindset of noticing all of the challenges and negativity, we see it more! We become blind to the blessings we have and the ability to be grateful for those blessings. From now on I am going to make a conscious effort to pay attention to the good things in my life. Here's to 30. There's worse places to spend your 30th, and I'm definitely glad I'm enjoying the sun in Majorca rather than the rain in England! Today I have had gifts from my husband, the boys and my in-laws and then to the beach and for dinner. Followed by an evening of food and a glass of fizz by the pool. The boys have all loved their first holiday abroad altogether and that makes me so happy that I was able to do this trip. The milk bottle legs are out, I now see why people pre tan before holiday 😂 I was so nervous flying with 4 kids but they actually all did fantastic!
